![]() ![]() The racing style essentially makes your character and camera easier to control, but it sacrifices your ability to directly choose which tricks you can pull off. Your choices are Racer or Trickster, but don't worry too much about that decision. When you first load into Riders Republic, one of the first options you'll see is which style you want your character to use. It may seem counterintuitive, but believe us, the brake is your most powerful tool. Winning a race is not about reaching maximum speed, but about having the most consistent race. If you know a sharp turn is approaching, it might be wise to reduce speed sooner, brake the turn and cut as close as possible. Even wingsuit and jetpack races will have times when just trying to maintain maximum speed will end up falling behind you when you skid off course. Now, we're not saying that you're actually going to want to stop during a race, but braking is essential to getting around tons of hairpins and turns in every racing category. These aren't huge differences, but they are enough that we wanted to offer both. If you set the air shock up to offer a similar feel in the mid-stroke, you may struggle to achieve full travel. If you like a firmer feel, you will probably prefer the coil. ![]() This offers the maximum mid-stroke support for berms/park riding/ pushing into turns. The coil has a slightly more linear feel/ less bottom-out resistance, which encourages a firmer overall setup. ![]() The suspension will also have a "poppier" and more playful ride, as the air shock will try to get you out of the deep part of travel. This will generally offer a smoother ride, but one that can still be ridden very aggressively and not struggle. The air shock is more progressive than the coil, which allows for a slightly softer setup without worrying about bottoming-out. There is a difference in feel between the two, but neither is better than the other- just different.
